Top schools battle it out

A total of 11 schools will battle it out and they will be grouped into three with Gifford, Sizane, Ihlathi and St Columbus High schools making up Group A, Nkulumane, Northlea and Entumbane making up Group B and Group C will be made up of CBC, Founders, Milton and Induna High School.

Tomorrow’s games will be played in the round robin format and the finalists and semi-finalists will finish off their matches on Sunday at the same venue for the third place play-offs and the final.

On paper there are four favourites for this tournament and they are Nkulumane who will be banking on Porstion Mafuta, Noah Penduka and Freedom Ncube who play for league side Stars, Founders who boast of Shadel Noble who       turns for league side Oilers and Sylvester Mtandwa of Kings, CBC who will be hoping for some          O’Brien Mlele magic and Northlea who will be banking on former Under-18 national player Anesu Mavezera.

Gifford coach Ndumiso Mabhena said his side has a chance but said he was worried because his best players left last year.
“Yes we have a chance just like every side in any ball game but                    it will be tough this time because a lot of my top players left but the ones I have can still produce some magic and I am hoping for that,” he said.
