HOSTS St George’s College are through to the quarter-final of the CHIZIS Soccer tournament after beating Westridge 4-1 yesterday.
Malvern Mpofu scored a brace and Tapuwa Makotere and Tafadzwa Chibwetete were on target for the Saints.Skipper Shingai Pasipanodya said they were happy to qualify for the quarter-finals.
“There is a lot of competition, we won two and lost one match in our pool but I enjoyed our match against Watershed,” said Pasipanodya.
Falcon College topped Pool A with 10 points after winning three matches and a draw while St John’s College, with seven points, were second and are also through.
Pool C winners Kyle College have also qualified for the quarter-finals.
Southern Eastern College are also through.
Falcon College captain Terry Mazango said he knew they had a good chance of making the last eight.
“In the match against Peterhouse, they are a good side and the game was tough we could only manage a goal,” said Mazango.
The tournament had 13 school taking part.
