Harare’s city centre has appeared in court.
Peter Garabwe (28), a tout at the corner of Speke Avenue and Leopold Takawira Street where pirate taxis ply the Parirenyatwa and Avondale routes, appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Don Ndirowei.
He was charged with indecent assault and was not asked to plead before being remanded out of custody to March 23 on US$20 bail.
Prosecutor Ms Memory Chidavaenzi said the incident occurred on February 11 as the woman walked along Leopold Takawira Street with her husband.
Without asking if she needed a lift, it is alleged, the tout grabbed her and pushed her to a pirate taxi.
The State says when she tried to break loose he grabbed her around the waist and shoved her into the car.
Her husband heard her screams and – with the help of other people – apprehended the tout and handed him over to the police. – CR.
