A TOUT allegedly raped a 16-year-old Form Four pupil after plying her with alcohol.

Amos Dube, 18, of Lobengula suburb in Bulawayo appeared before a Western Commonage magistrate Abednico Ndebele facing a rape charge.

The magistrate did not ask Dube to plead and remanded him in custody to today for a bail hearing.

The court heard that after raping the girl, Dube took her home in a commuter omnibus, dressed only in a petticoat.

Dube said he had consensual sex with the Sikhulile High School pupil before she became drunk.

“I gave her Pushkin vodka which was diluted with Minute Maid juice to drink. She consented to us having sexual intercourse before she got drunk. She’s only turning against me now because she’s facing pressure from her parents,” he said.

Prosecuting, Margaret Muhomba told the court that on November 12, 2015, at around 3PM, the pupil was on her way to school to surrender a text- book when she met Dube who invited her to join him at his friend’s house.

The pupil, she said, went into the house and Dube gave her alcohol.

“When the complainant got drunk, Dube carried the complainant to the bedroom. And without her consent he had sexual intercourse with the teen,” said Muhomba.

She said Dube took the pupil to her home in a kombi wearing only a petticoat.

The court heard the pupil’s mother reported the matter to the police when she saw her drunk and semi-naked daughter.

“The complainant was referred to hospital where the doctor compiled a report which can be produced as evidence in court,” said the prosecutor.

The incident comes after a group of boys from Bulawayo were arrested for allegedly forcing a 14-year-old Evelyn High School pupil to drink vodka before gang-raping her.
