A HARARE tout was on Friday sentenced to 18 years in jail after he was found guilty of raping his ex-girlfriend.
Simbarashe Madyambudzi, who appeared before Harare magistrate Mrs Lois Mukunyadze, denied the allegations, but was convicted after a full trial.
It was proved that on October 17, 2023, Madyambudzi harassed the complainant who was his ex-girlfriend, after he found her with another man.
Madyambudzi dragged the complainant until she sustained serious injuries on her hand and all over the body.
He also took away the complainant’s cash and removed her wig. Madyambudzi locked the complainant in his house in Kuwadzana against her will before raping her.
The complainant managed to escape to a local tyre service where she temporarily had assistance before the matter was reported to Kuwadzana Police Station.
