A TOUT from Bulawayo has appeared in court for allegedly raping a Form Four pupil from his suburb while her parents were away.
Allan Moyo appeared before regional magistrate Mr Chrispen Mberewere facing rape charges and pleaded not guilty.
In his defence through his lawyer Mr Jabulani Mhlanga of Masiye-Moyo and Associates, Moyo said the girl’s stepmother was not happy with his relationship with the girl, hence she fabricated the matter.
“I’ve never sexually abused her. Sometime in December last year I proposed love and she accepted. When her stepmother discovered that we were dating, she was angry,” he said.
The girl took to the witness stand and said Moyo came to their house in the company of a driver employed by her father.
“The driver was eating while I was seated next to Allan. He then started fondling me and when I screamed he closed my mouth and raped me,” she said.
Mr Mberewere remanded the matter to August 5 for continuation of trial.Prosecuting, Mr Simbarashe Manyiwa alleged that between a period extending from August 1 and 31 last year, Moyo visited the girl’s home in Pumula South while her parents were away.
“He sat on a sofa with the girl and went on to rape her. After the rape he threatened to kill her if she revealed the matter to anyone. The girl, however, opened up about the rape on January 13 to a family friend, leading to Moyo’s arrest,” he said.
