THE Bulawayo Motoring Club will host the fourth edition of the Toyota Castrol Endurace Race that will see participants in the Super Bikes and Motor Race categories battling it out for honours at the Victoria Falls Road Circuit on Saturday.

The event will have about 30 participants from Harare, Botswana and South Africa.

Monroe Racing team ambassador David Mouat said there were sure to be fireworks on the track.

“There’ll be stiff competition from the other racers. We’re lucky to have joined forces with Croco Motors Zimbabwe, who’ve sponsored us by providing a Ford Ranger truck,” said Mouat.

He said the event was sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) and the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM).

“The race is sanctioned by international bodies FIA & FIM meaning that they’re internationally recognised. Motor sport has been growing steadily in the country and it’s events like these that create a general interest in motorsport,” he said.

He said last year’s Super Bike winner, Bulawayo-born Themba Khumalo, will not take part in this year’s showdown due to engagements in Italy and France.

“Cameron Aitken, Savanna Nnah and I’ll represent the Monroe team,” Mouat said.
