A TRACKING team comprising Zimbabwe National Parks Management Authority rangers and the Zimbabwe Republic Police has been assembled to capture a stray lion roaming the outskirts of Bulawayo.Yesterday, the team had tracked the lion’s spoor to Mthombothemba Dam.

Acting Bulawayo police spokesperson Assistant Abedinico Ncube confirmed  that a tracking team is closing in on the lion.

“A team of trackers is tracking the animal and by last night, they had tracked the lion to Mthombothemba Dam,” he said.

The lion’s spoor was first seen last Friday at Jadaf Farm.

So far there hasn’t been any report of the lion attacking people or livestock.

Asst Insp Ncube advised the public to be vigilant and to report to the nearest police if they see the lion or its spoor.

A villager from Dambari farm, Tinashe Nyararai, who was the first to see the tracks, said communities close to Chipangali Wildlife Orphanage lived in fear and had stopped moving outdoors at night.
