THE Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe (TSCZ) has been accorded ISO 9001:2015, an international standard for quality management systems.
This marks a significant step towards improving road safety and TSCZ’s operational efficiency. Implementing ISO 9001:2015 will enhance TSCZ’s processes, ensuring more effective road safety initiatives, ultimately reducing the number of accidents on Zimbabwe roads.
The standard, which also promotes data-driven decision-making, will enable TSCZ to make informed and effective choices.
TSCZ’s media and communications officer Mrs Lucy Kuwandira Mapfumo said, with ISO certification, the organisation will realise increased efficiency.
“The Standards Association of Zimbabwe interrogated our processes and procedures to see if they are excellent, so in doing that, they realised that they were excellent. The processes and procedures include . . . the defensive driving course registration, to say, is the registration documented?
“If it is documented, is the service that you get in Chinhoyi the same service we get in Harare? Is the service excellence in Harare the same in Chinhoyi, or Matabeleland North? We passed the test in terms of rendering our services with excellence.”
The certification is also a stamp of endorsement for TSCZ that the council meets all relevant regulatory requirements.
“Our institution is focused on improving services, to do better for the ordinary Zimbabwean. It means, if we are selling the Highway Code, we have to interrogate the book, to check if it contains the relevant information to the ordinary person. So, this process is just there to ensure that, as TSCZ, we enhance our service to the ordinary Zimbabwean so that they can get the quality of our products.”
