TREASURY has activated the disbursement of the much-anticipated Constituency Development Fund (CDF), releasing an initial ZWG 93 million to kick-start development projects nationwide, Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube has revealed.
Seventy-one Members of Parliament, representing specific constituencies in the National Assembly, form the first group to receive their allocations.
In an interview with Zimpapers Politics Hub, Professor Ncube said:
“Yes, I can confirm that Treasury has started distributing the funding for the CDF. Initially, we started with 71 constituencies. So for these 71, we have released the funds. That amount is, in actual fact, ZWG93 million, which we have paid out.
“If you calculate that, it will give you the amount that each legislator will receive.
“All legislators that were voted for in the constituencies will benefit from the fund.”
Prof Ncube said after finalising the list of 71 MPs. Treasury is now working on the next trench of disbursements for the remaining legislators.
The CDF is expected to ignite yet another wave of tangible development programmes under the Second Republic across all corners of the country.
