AN online journal has released what many have termed another controversial list like Forbes 10 most bankable artistes, on top 20 African comedians. But conspicuous by his absence is Zimbabwe’s top comedian Carl Joshua Ncube. Ncube, who has toured Africa and Europe, has shared with some of the leading comedians including Zambia’s Daliso Chaponda. It appears the list only did not broaden its scope as it only features comedians from Nigeria, Malawi, Kenya, Uganda, Congo and South Africa.
Basketmouth has added another feather to his many achievements with the recent rating proclaiming him the second best stand-up comedian in Africa.

According to the list compiled by international comedy website, Officiallaughs.com, Basketmouth (35) only comes second to Trevor Noah, a South African stand-up comedian.

Other Nigerian comedians that made the top 20 list are Klint the Drunk in fifth place, I Go Dye (8) and veteran comedian Ali Baba (12).
Also on the list are US-based comedian Foxy P (16), UK-based A Dot (18) and Gbenga Adeyinka in 20th position.

Only last April, the Glo Ambassador and television host emerged the first Nigerian to host comedy gig and TV show “Comedy Central Presents … Live at Parker’s’.

Comedians from other countries who have been featured on Comedy Central which airs on DStv were conspicuously absent on the list. The top 20 are:
1. Trevor Noah (South Africa).
2. Basketmouth (Nigeria).
3. Michael Blackson (Ghana).
4. Riaad Moosa (South Africa).
5. Klint The Drunk (Nigeria).
6. David Kau (South Africa).
7. Daliso Chaponda (Malawi).
8. I Go Dye (Nigeria).
9. Eric Omondi (Kenya).
10. Eddie Kadi (Congo).
