Trial date for city lawyer set

It is alleged the woman replaced her husband with two other men.
Prosecutor Mr Tungamirai Chakurira yesterday said the State was expecting that police would have arrested the third suspect, Assistant Commissioner Erasmus Makodza, by then.
The State wants Asst Comm Makodza to stand trial with the other suspects.
Gilliet Kashangura is accused of taking advantage of her husband’s illness and trying to replace him with two new directors in Brendon Security, a firm they co-owned.
Gilliet and Nyamadzawo are out on US$100 bail each. But Advocate Isaiah Mureriwa of Scanlen and Holderness, who is representing Mr Kashangura, contend that Asst Comm Makodza should be arrested as well.
The lawyers argue that Asst Comm Makodza was one of the two newly appointed directors of Brendon Security and that he should join the other two suspects.
Various letters have been written to the Attorney General’s Office and the police headquarters seeking Assistant Comm Makodza’s arrest.
Mr Kashangura, is also the managing director of Forest Security (Pvt) Ltd.
According to the State, sometime in March  last year, the complainant came up with the idea of forming a company meant to provide security services to private schools and registered Brendon Security on April 7 last year.
Sometime in June last year, the State says, Mr Kashangura fell sick and could not attend to his office.
The wife took over and acted in Mr Kashangura’s position, attending to all issues, which required his attention hence she was in charge of the safe.
In June, Mr Kashangura received a tip-off from an anonymous caller to the effect that he had been eliminated from Brendon Security.
