GOALKEEPER Ronald Mudimu converted a penalty as a lacklustre Triangle scraped past Hwange yesterday afternoon, picking yet another big win in their battle to remain in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.

It was the second win in three league games for coach Biggie Zuze after the arrival of new technical director Kelvin Kaindu, who joined in October, and they have picked seven out of nine points.

Triangle looked far from convincing ahead of the trip to Chiredzi to face Chiredzi FC in the penultimate league match of the season.

Brian Juwayeyi, the son of late Austin “Masebho” Juwayeyi who played for Highlanders and Jomo Cosmos of South Africa before ending his career at Triangle, troubled the Hwange defence and combined well with big Felix Kuswatuka to set up a 56th minute penalty.

Munyaradzi Mungadze pulled down Juwayeyi inside the box and referee Rugare Kusosa pointed to the spot.

Penalty specialist, Mudimu, stepped up to score the goal that was enough to earn Triangle all three points in the 57th minute.

Triangle had to complete the game with 10 men when Charles Rukwanhi received a straight red card, his third for the season, after bundling Evans Rusike who was clear on goal in the 76th minute.

Zuze was happy with the big win.

“We are happy we have collected points, both teams played well and created chances but I’m happy my boys managed to handle this strong and experienced Hwange side,” said Zuze.

Hwange coach Nation Dube was furious after the match.

“That was daylight robbery and the game was decided by the referee, thank you,” said Dube.
