Triangle FC goalkeeper Ronald Mudimu scored an equaliser in the 62nd minute to earn his side a share of the spoils in match played at Gibbo Stadium yesterday.
The visitors took the lead in the 28th minute when Tendai Mukambi capitalised on a defensive blunder to place his side in front.
The game started on a low tempo with both teams testing each other’s defence.
Triangle FC launched an attack from the right wing when defender Praise Tonha flighted an inviting pass to Tineyi Chitora but assistant referee David Khumalo had his flag up for offside in the opening minutes.
With 16 minutes into the game, Jimmy Chikwanda pointed to the spot after defender Brian Mbiriri had handled the ball from a Tonha cross.
The visitors’ goalminder Liberty Chirava denied Triangle FC the lead in the 16th minute when he double-saved a Tineyi Chitora penalty and a rebound by Pasca Nhanhanga.
The visitors found the back of the net in the 28th minute after Bhekimpilo Ncube packed a shot which was intercepted by Triangle FC’s defence whose rebound was finished by Mukambi who beat Mudimu.
Triangle coach Biggie Zuze was forced to substitute Blessing Chimwamuchera with Ronald Mateko in the 35th minute following a knee injury.
Nhamo Lameck who hammered three goals against Chiredzi FC two weeks was in poor form and that cost the home side many chances.
The second half started on a low note as it was marred by injuries which killed the flow of play.
Triangle FC failed to equalise on the hour mark when Manhanga took a quick corner kick which Felix Kuswatuka headed wide.
Chicken Inn conceded a penalty in the 61st minute when defender Moses Jackson handled inside the box Manhanga’s shot.
Triangle goalie Mudimu levelled matters from the spot sending Chikara to the wrong direction.
In the 69th minute Chikara was yellow carded for remonstrating against referee Makwanda who had awarded Triangle a corner kick as he felt otherwise.
Triangle FC supporters celebrated Ncube’s substitution in the 78th minute as he had terrorised the home team all along.
Chicken Inn coach Joey Antipas was happy with the result saying a point away was vital.
“An away point is very vital for us. We failed to get away with the three crucial points but at least we have something to celebrate. It’s just that our defence failed to clear balls properly on the line resulting in us conceding two penalties,” he said.
Biggie Zuze however said the result was welcome since they were playing a big team.
“The game was too physical. Our guys did a good job after trailing for the rest of the game.
