A stoppage-time penalty by Misheck Mburayi gave Triangle a well-deserved draw against Harare City in this Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match here yesterday. Triangle were clearly on top of the situation in the opening minutes of the match, forcing three corner kicks in the first four minutes but the visitors’ goalminder Maxwell Nyamupangedengu dealt well with the high balls.

On the 12th minute, the exciting Nathan Ziwini missed a golden opportunity to open the scoring for the visitors after Martin Vengesai had dribbled past Triangle defenders to set up the former who shot wide.

There was drama just before the match after Harare City coach Bigboy Mawiwi confronted the ball boys accusing them of trying to throw some urine at him. The ball boys were then barred from entering the stadium and this somehow affected the flow of the match.

Back on the field of play, Pasca Manhanga opened the scoring for Triangle with a well-taken shot in the 31st minute after receiving a clever ball from Nhamo Lameck and gave Nyamupangedengu no chance at all.

Triangle’s Muchineripi Muneri, who was handed his first start since last year, demonstrated some flashes of brilliance in the middle of the park in the absence of David Sengu, Walter Mukanga, Courage Denias (all injured) and Charles Makoto (suspension).

Manhanga missed another chance in the 43rd minute when he tried to chip the ball over Nyamupangedengu but he shot wide. James Jam equalised for the visitors in the 68th minute after meeting a long throw from James Madora and his thunderous low shot gave goalkeeper Brighton Chipula no chance.

Minutes later, William Mapfumo was yellow-carded for a foul on Martin Vengesai just outside the box, Silas Songani scored with a stunner from the resulting free-kick to give Harare City the lead.

Triangle made a double substitution introducing Brian Juwayeyi and Blessing Maziwisa for Muneri and Tawanda Muyendi respectively.
Munyaradzi Kunyarimwe gave the home-side a lifeline after he handled Manhanga’s shot at goal inside the box and Rusape-based refree Brighton Chimene did not hesitate to point to the spot Misheck Mburayi then stepped up to send Nyamupangedengu the wrong way to give the Sugar Sugar Boys an all important point.
