VETERAN striker Limited Chikafa reminded the Premiership about his scoring abilities when he sunk a brace to inspire newboys Triangle to their maiden top-flight win at Gibbo yesterday.
Chikafa who reunited with his former CAPS United coach Gishon Ntini when he arrived at Triangle last year, grabbed his double in the second half after Willard Gondo had given the hosts the lead in the first half.
It was the first Premier league match to be played at the stadium in 42 years and the win torched celebrations in the sugarcane growing town which lasted until late into the night.
Triangle had taken off to a false start in the Premiership when they lost to Chicken Inn at Luveve on Thursday but made the most of playing at home by collecting three points.
Gondo gave the hosts the lead in the first half before seasoned striker Chikafa struck in the 46th minute and 75th minutes to give outspoken coach Ntini something to smile about.
Shabanie were left searching for a win after losing 2-0 to Highlanders at Maglas in their opening game of the season.
Ntini said he was pleased with both the performance and the result and said he was immediately shifting attention to their next assignment against Bulawayo giants Highlanders.
“I think we just continued from where we left in the game against Chicken Inn. Like I said we lost to Chicken Inn but we were the better team and were very unfortunate.
“Now I am happy that we have managed to beat seasoned campaigners like Shabanie who have been in the league for long,” said Ntini.
A former CAPS United coach, Ntini said he is now ready for Highlanders who are among the early pacesetters again this year.
“The next game will be against Highlanders and we hope to continue playing well.
“Our advantage is that we will be the underdogs and we will not be having any pressure,” he said.
Ntini believes around 7 000 fans watched their match and hopes more fans will come to their next matches.
“We had a good crowd and I hope more will come in future matches.
“Fans from this town are still supportive of traditional clubs like CAPS United, Highlanders and Dynamos. “But these people had waited for 42 years and were in the wilderness said Ntini.
