Triangle will survive relegation: Sibanda

TRIANGLE coach Thulani Sibanda is confident his team will survive relegation, despite occupying a place within the drop zone in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.

With 10 games, and 30 points still to fight for, Triangle find themselves on position 15 with 25 points from 24 games.

This season has seen them win only four games, draw 13 and lose seven.

Sheasham, in position 14th, are just a point ahead of Triangle while ZPC Kariba and CAPS United, in 13th and 14th, are on 27 points.

At this stage, the battle for survival seems like it will go to the wire but Sibanda is optimistic about his charges’ chances.

“One thing for sure is we will not get relegated,” said Sibanda.

“The team has taken time to get their act together but we are now at a point where the team is playing well.

“What we need right now is a consistent run of wins and we will avoid relegation.

“I have been impressed with how the boys have played of late and l have no doubt with such performances we will be out of the relegation zone soon.

“We know where we are coming from and where we are going,” said Sibanda.

The coach has been in this situation before having helped Bulawayo Chiefs avoid relegation in 2017 and 2018.

They will be inactive this week.

“We are taking this as a recovery period. This is an opportunity for those players who have suffered knocks to recover so that when we return to action we have a strong squad ready for the challenge that is ahead,” said Sibanda.

The other relegation slots are filled by Cranborne Bullets who sit at the bottom of the table with 18 points from 24 points.

Fellow army side Black Rhinos are second from the bottom with 20 points, four behind Yadah Stars who are on 24 points.
