Triangle’s fine run persists

F.C Platinum……………..(0)1TRIANGLE United continue with their fine run after edging high-flying FC Platinum in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at Gibbo yesterday.

Goals in each half by Limited Chikafa and Walter Mukanga was enough to give Triangle a well deserved victory  as they continue to move away from relegation zone.

The match started on high note with FC Platinum looking comfortable on the ball, attacking from all angles. Tatenda Mudehwe was a thorn in the flesh of the Triangle rearguard, forcing two corner kicks in the opening minutes.

Brian Juwayeyi was the first to be booked by Kwekwe based Thomas Masaa in the seventh minute after a foul on FC Platinum captain Daniel Veremu.

Michelle Katsvairo could not connect from the resultant free-kick as he shot wide. FC Platinum continued to attack but their defence was caught napping in the 11th minute when Chasten Ngondonga’s long clearance was well controlled by Misheck Mburayi who shrugged off a challenge from Raphael Muduviwa to set up his captain Chikafa who made no mistake from close range.

Juwayeyi, who was making some clever runs on the right flank, found Courage Denias whose fantastic header was tipped over the bar by Francis Tizayi in the 20th minute.

Brighton Chipula pulled a fantastic save in the 45th minute after a well taken shot by Mudehwe. Triangle could have gone to the half-time break two-up as Manhanga and Chikafa combined well to set up unlucky Denias who headed just over the bar from 12 yards.

The second half, which was not as electric as the first, started with both teams cautious before Mukanga initiated a run in the 49th minute and dribbled past Elvis Moyo, leaving Veremu to set up Chikafa whose shot hit  the side netting. Manhanga got past Veremu in the 59th minute and his pass was received by Mukanga who controlled well before scoring what he called the best goal of his life.

“I am happy for the goal, I have never scored such a beautiful goal in my career. I want to thank my teammates and the coach for giving me confidence ahead of this game after sitting out the match against Monoz,” Mukanga said.

Katsvairo scored FC Platinum’s goal in the 65th minute connecting with a header from Sibanda’s free-kick. Tizayi, who was more busier than Chipula, tipped the ball out of danger after a well calculated shot from former teammate Norman Togara six minutes later.
