Triathlon Zim to hold AGM

TRIATHLON Zimbabwe are set to start laying the foundation for their 2026-2027 season this month when they hold their annual general meeting at Old Georgians Sports Club in Harare.

The meeting set for June 27 will see the members mainly focusing on the review of the previous season with the president’s report and the development report among the main aspects to be looked at.

The AGM will be followed by another meeting to look at the calendar of events for the forthcoming local season that usually kicks-off with the National Duathlon Championships.

With the term of office for the board now four years, unlike in the past when it was one year with elections held every year, the voting that will take place will be for replacing the incumbent treasurer Rob Goddard, who is stepping down due to other commitments.

They will also be voting for tour treasurer and manager for the forthcoming season.

Triathlon Zimbabwe vice president Pamela Fulton said focus will be more on reviewing the association’s performance and programmes in the previous season.

“So, with the AGM, obviously, last year, for the first time, we voted in for four years. We changed our constitution before, so this year won’t be such a big voting AGM.

“Just our treasurer is not standing again, so there will be nominations, hopefully, if someone agrees to be treasurer. That’s the only vote plus the tour treasurer and tour manager.

“Obviously it will be just the reading of the different reports, the president’s report, the development report, and the treasurer’s report, then get on to the voting of the various positions, and then any other business, if there is any.

“Once all of that’s done and we know exactly who the board is, and only after that, we meet later to discuss the calendar and the season,” said Fulton.

On their development plan, some of the initiatives the association has been working on in the last couple of seasons is the schools series.

The series has been catering for junior schools as Triathlon Zimbabwe are looking at increasing their numbers and hopefully retaining the talent in the sport.
