Struggling giants Dynamos are bracing for a longer route in defence of their Chibuku Super Cup title with Yadah and possibly Simba Bhora set to test their resolve early in this competition.

DeMbare, winners of the past two editions, are taking the longer route this year on the basis of their poor performance in the league.

According to the competition rules, the bottom four teams at mid-season- Yadah, Triangle, Dynamos and Kwekwe United – start from the preliminary round.

As a result, DeMbare will begin their quest against Yadah at Ngoni while Triangle have a date against Kwekwe United at Mandava.

The organisers said the preliminary round will be played at neutral venues.

Dynamos chairman Moses Maunganidze said the Glamour Boys will look to put behind them their current struggles in the hope of retaining the title.

“We are ready to face Yadah on August 6. If we go past Yadah, obviously we will play Simba Bhora and we are ready for the two draws. As cup holders two times in a row we are confident of doing well in this tournament, ” said Maunganidze.

The winners from the preliminary round will  join the top 14 teams in the first round.

The first round draws were also conducted with the top eight seeded teams set to start at home.

Those would mean Dynamos will face Simba Bhora at Wadzanayi.

Venues for Harare teams to be confirmed as Rufaro might not be available at the time of the first round matches because of the Heroes Day celebrations.

Giants CAPS United will begin their campaign at MWOS while Highlanders will travel to Harare for a day against Herentals.

Delta Beverages Marketing Director Irimayi Muzorewa said they look forward to highly competitive matches.

The total purse for the tournament is $375 000.

The winner will pocket $75 000 and a ticket to represent Zimbabwe at the next CAF Confederation Cup.
