Trio arrested for property theft

Three men from Gweru have been arrested for allegedly stealing property which includes electrical gadgets, beverages, toiletries and food items worth $16 000.

Acting Midlands Police Spokesperson Assistant Inspector Ethel Mukwende confirmed the arrest of the three suspects Tanaka Mawari (18), Nigel Kaitano (19) and Wiseman Svosve (18) on December 1 at Mtausi Park Dalesford in Gweru.

“On December 1, the three Kaitano, Mawari and Svosve unlawfully broke into three different homes and stole property valued at $16 000 which included electrical gadgets, beverages, toiletries and food items,” she said.

Assistant Insp Mukwende said after receiving a report, investigations were carried out leading to the arrest of the three.

“After reports of theft and break ins were made, police launched investigations which led to the arrest of the three accused people. Upon their arrest they were found in possession of some of the stolen property worth $10 000 which was stored in various houses,” she said.

Ass Insp Mukwende said the Police are appealing to members of the public to desist from buying stolen property. “We also urge members of the public to seek for clearance from the police before buying any property. The police would like to appreciate the complainants who quickly reported their cases to the police and assisted with our investigations in this case. It is a clear testimony that there is always a good relationship between the police and the community, “added Insp Mukwende.
