BULAWAYO’S music industry is mostly dominated by rappers, with musicians from other genres seldom getting any notice.
However, one up-and-coming reggae artiste seeks to turn the tables, as he endeavours to make the genre the most preferred.
Julius Ndlovu (28) warmly known as Triple C says he is ready to make his debut in the industry and is seeking to take on established artistes in the genre.
“I ventured into the industry in 2016 and have so far come up with six tracks. I am working on releasing them to radio stations but without blowing my own whistle I know they will be chart toppers.
Inspired by the same original ragger sound from legendary Jamaican artistes such as the late Bob Marley and Chronix, Triple C says he too adds a conscious flavour to his music.
“My music has the same flair as that of the founding reggae fathers. It appeals to anyone who loves conscious music,” he said.
Triple C said that it was his hope to get a live performance.
“I haven’t had a live performance but it is my hope and wish to do so,” he said.
Triple C explained how he coined his stage name.
“My name dates back to my schooling days. People nicknamed me Julius Caesar like the Roman Empire. It then evolved to Captain Cashley Caesar and that’s how I ended up as Triple C,” he said.
He added that he is hoping to collaborate with other artistes to fuse his genre and others.
“I would like to challenge those established artistes out there to take us on and collaborate with us. It would be nice to fuse genres as well,” said Triple C.
