Triple Crown race provisional horses list out

A PROVISIONAL list of 13 horses that have been nominated to take part in Zimbabwe Derby Grade (3) race, the third leg of the Triple Crown set for Borrowdale on Sunday April 19 has been released.

This stayers race is 2,400M long.

Mashonaland Turf Club has pushed out the list of 13 horses that have been put in the line of fire by their respective stables to fight for all the available slots in the final leg of the Triple Crown race.

A decent $9,000 stake money has been declared for the leg. The money will be shared between the winner and the first 3 placed runners to cross the line.

Though this is just the first stage of selection it is interesting to note that Merhaba, winner of the second leg of the Triple Crown in March, from the yard of Gokhan Terzi is the highest rated nominee in this race rated 88.

The second highest rated nominee is Mica Point by Bridget Stidolp who is three steps down the ratings ladder at 85. Mica Point is the winner of the first leg. However, the horse will have to be at his best on the day in order to beat the marauding Merhaba.

The least rated runner amongst the cast is Primadora trained by Terzi. Primadora has a poor rating of 24.

A total of six races will be hosted on the race day alongside the main race. There is a total of 131 participants vying for the all available slots in all the races slated for the day.

Mashonaland Turf Club is expected to push out the final fields list next week April 14 in the process casting the die for this much awaited race.
