AS the ZIFA Northern Region Division One Soccer League promotion and relegation nears conclusion, violence and hooliganism has become rampant in recent games.

Trojan Stars saw their league match at the weekend being plagued by hooliganism.

The Bindura-based side were caught on the wrong side of the law during their match against Karoi United at Trojan Mine, which the visitors won 1-0.

Trojan Stars chairman, Irvine Gunyere, said they regretted the sad incident as they as they do not condone violence and hooliganism.

“As Trojan Stars, we would like to apologise unreservedly to the football fraternity in its entirety for the unfortunate incident of pitch invasion which resulted in the manhandling of the match officials during the match against Karoi United.

“We have zero tolerance policy towards hooliganism or and violent behaviour that goes against football statutes and norms.

“We will be fully cooperative with the relevant authorities as investigations continue to establish the root cause of the disturbances,” he said.

Meanwhile, Chegutu Pirates reduced their points difference with Black Mambas after they won 2-0 against Come Again on Saturday.

Only five points separate Dzinza and the leaders.
