TROUBLED AFM PASTOR GETS SUSPENDED TWO MONTHS JAIL SENTENCE

KADOMA AFM pastor, Learnmore Mutenha, has pleaded guilty to defaulting on maintenance payments for his two children.

He appeared in court yesterday.

It has been a trying week for the pastor who had his wedding disrupted at the weekend when he was issued with a warrant of arrest during the ceremony for defaulting on maintenance payments.

He was then dragged to the Harare Civil Court where he reunited with his two kids for the first time in 14 months.

Yesterday, he appeared at the Harare Magistrates Courts.

Mutenha had offered what he claimed to be his full salary of US$50 for the upkeep of his children.

He, however, had settled the bill in full before his court appearance, resulting in a lenient sentence of a wholly suspended two-month sentence, provided he does not commit a similar offence in the next 12 months.

His ex-wife, Janet Chenjerai, and the State proved that Mutenha had defaulted on school fees payments amounting to $182 857.50 and US$522.50.

Mutenha settled the bill on September 29 after a warrant for his arrest was issued on his wedding day.

Kudzanai Mudzamiri represented the State.
