ONE person has died while 10 others sustained injured after a truck they were travelling in overturned while reversing along the Mtshabezi River Bridge on Monday morning.
In a statement Gwanda District Disaster Risk Reduction focal person Mr Awakhiwe confirmed the incident which occurred at around 10AM.
“On 20 July a CMED UD truck carrying 11 people including the driver lost brakes while reversing to collect water at Mtshabezi Bridge. The truck overturned at around 9AM. One fatality has been recorded while other passengers sustained various injuries.
The body of a female in her late twenties who was trapped under water has been retrieved. We continue to assess the situation,” he said.
