Trust God, even in difficult times

THE one thing that is certain in life is that change will be constant.

We will have good moments and we will have difficult times. In peaceful moments, it is easy to turn to our Lord, but in the turbulence it can be difficult.

A way to ease our suffering in those more difficult moments is to already have made a habit, a practiced skill of turning to the Lord, trusting God in both good and bad times.

Are you suffering through a time of trial right now? Do you feel like there is no one to assist you in your current feelings of vulnerability?

Do you feel that the world and even those closest to you do not see you, hear you, or are generally not reliable? Since God created us, he wants us to depend on him and only him. He gifted us his sacred Word. God’s ineffable wisdom in his Word can be your anchor in the turbulent waters in whatever storm at sea you may be facing now.

Many verses in the Bible can help you practice trusting God in your trials.

In these verses, you can experience the truth of our living God who is our rock to rely on, who sees you and hears you. He stays right next to us even when we in our limited understanding feel he may be far away.

You can use these verses in times of prayer and meditation to overcome worry, fear, and discouragement. The Word tells us to incessantly pray and turn to him in our lives. Make connection with him and dependence on him as a way of life. Turn his word into prayers so you open a conversation and stay in conversation with God during calm days as well as stormy days.

Bible Verses to Help with Trusting God Here are the best Bible verses for trusting God that you can use especially when facing trials. Write them out and have them handy to meditate on both when you are tempted to lose hope, and also when the waters may be calmer, keeping that steady and constant relationship with the Lord in good or bad times. Within a consistent practice in relationship with the Lord, repetition is always the centre.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. – Proverbs 3:5-6.

These verses map out a plan for you: trust God, do not rely on yourself, seek God’s will, and look for the way he shows you. Make this your prayer every day, and your faith will become stronger.

It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed. – Deuteronomy 31:8

What a comfort it is to know that God never leaves us or forsakes. He is right beside you, leading the way and always staying with you. Because of this truth, you can surrender your fear and discouragement and even your gratitude and joy to Him. Surrender your entire heart to our living Lord.

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. – Jeremiah 29:11

In the flesh, we have limited understanding, and in difficult times, this feeling of uncertainty may feel even more present.

God still holds your future in his hands.

He wants the best for you. As you trust and rely on him and his promises, he will renew your hope and fill your heart with his love.

So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. – John 8:36

Therefore, I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. – Mark 11:24

Prayer can be a great comfort. God wants to hear everything from you – nothing is too small or too big. Pour out your heart in prayer, asking God for what you want.

Trust him to provide the wisest answer in his perfect timing. He knows your heart.

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. – Joshua 1:9

We can be strong and courageous, even in our trials, when we trust that God will be with us. If your trial causes you to worry, picture God surrounding you. Visualise him fighting for you, doing all the heavy lifting for you. He is faithful to the ones he loves.

And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. – Philippians 4:9

What are you lacking in your time of trial? As your perfect heavenly provider, God is ready and willing to give you what you need. Ask him for what you need and trust him to provide for you. He is your rock and saviour.

Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. – Psalm 37:4

Even in the most difficult times, you can praise God’s character and faithfulness, because this never changes. Take delight in this truth. Trust the desires of your heart to him daily, and he will comfort you.
