Truth

Talia Mabhiza

Fold on top of fold,

Lie on top of lie,

It’s the truth that kills.

Sharp as a sword,

Acidic as citric,

Leaving its bitter taste.

It takes a lot to accept,

It takes courage to utter,

It break bonds.

I sense it break us,

I feel the distance broadening,

The love fading.

The friendships lose light,

Then suddenly I’m alone,

Alone with my sorrows.

Alone with my truth,

Forgotten by existence,

Again I’m just a shadow.

Behold, it’s the truth
