TRAFFIC Safety Council of Zimbabwe (TSCZ) has partnered with the Apostolic Christian Council of Zimbabwe (ACCZ) to train pastors on road safety during the festive season.
The programme, which is currently underway, is targeting to train, at least 60 pastors, in the country’s 10 provinces.
Addressing the training workshop in Harare,TSCZ managing director, Munesuishe Munodawafa, said pastors play an influential role within their communities.
“As Christmas approaches, we appeal to all pastors trained in this programme to preach the gospel of road safety to your congregants.
“You have the power to influence as many people are Christians in Zimbabwe, hence you reach a wider audience.
“It is through your message from this programme that we want to see a festive season that has a decrease in road accidents,” said Munodawafa.
ACCZ president, Obert Matsveru, said churches must work together with other stakeholders to ensure road safety during the festive season.
“As churches it is our duty to work with the government and other stakeholders in raising awareness on road safety and through this session we are certain that road accidents will decrease,” said Matsveru.
