FORMER Zanu PF Youth Affairs Political Commissar Cde Godfrey Tsenengamu has pledged to abide by the party constitution, respect the party leadership, and be ready to be assigned roles.
Cde Tsenengamu was expelled from Zanu PF in 2020 for his wayward behaviour after denigrating senior party leadership.
He was initially suspended for a year and relieved of his position in the Youth League, alongside former Youth Affairs Deputy Secretary Cde Lewis Matutu, who is now the party’s Vice Provincial Chairman for Midlands.
The duo was also required to attend the Chitepo School of Ideology during their suspension, but Cde Tsenengamu opted otherwise, which led to his expulsion, while Cde Matutu took heed of the call.
On Tuesday this week, Cde Tsenengamu was among other returnees at Dzivarasekwa Stadium in Harare.
He received a resounding welcome from thousands of Zanu PF supporters who had gathered for an inter-district meeting in Zone 3.
The Herald caught up with Cde Tsenengamu after he announced his return to the party.
“This commitment underscores my dedication to upholding the values and principles of the party as I continue to engage in party activities. I have always believed in this party, its ideology, and its aims and objectives. Zanu PF has always been my home; I have always been a Zanu PF member.
“Zanu PF has been in my blood; there was no way I was going to be out of my home for a long time,” said Cde Tsenengamu.
He emphasised his unwavering belief in the party’s ideology, asserting that Zanu PF will continue to be the party of choice.
“I still believe in the party’s principles and what it represents. That’s why I felt compelled to return home and rejoin the party I consider my true home. I promise to respect and obey the party leadership at the highest level.”
He urged the youth to adhere to the party constitution.
“My message to the younger generation is that Zanu PF is your party of choice; it is your only political home and the only ideology you should embrace. Let’s come together, become part of the decision-making process, and work to build our political agenda,” he said.
