South Africa-based Zimbabwean Afro Soul muso Tsepiso Phuthi believes that this year will be filled with bliss and many opportunities — with her recent venture into the AmaPiano scene proving that she is a force to reckon with in the game.

She believes the singles she will be releasing this year will open more doors for her and propel her to be among the top AmaPiano vocalists in Southern Africa.

Tsepiso has proven to be deserving to seat and dine with the genre’s greats as she featured on a song titled Ngingakubonga Ngani produced by United Kingdom-based DJ Panther and Inguni Elihle. It also features AmaPiano woman of the moment MaWhoo as well as Swaziland’s Shinely Greenz.

The single will be dropped on 7 February. The former Isithende Performing Arts member — who is also a real estate agent, said she was excited to ride on the AmaPiano wave and she is ready to take over as one of the finest female vocalists in the genre.

She said her verse on the song was spiritually guided by her emotions when she penned it as it is a summary of how grateful she is to God for what He has done in her life.

“The creative process on my verse was a very emotional one. I always write love songs. But this one was my first time writing a spiritual song. From listening to the concept of the song and what MaWhoo and Shinely Greenz wrote, I had to look at my life and think of all the things I am grateful for, and being someone who was orphaned at the age of 13, my upbringing wasn’t rosy.

“The fact that I am still alive and now pursuing my dream as a musician, my gratitude list can be a whole entire book. I then thought of summarising my blessings emphasising on how grateful I am to God.

“I have faith that God kept me alive for a reason and I believe he is not done with me yet as great things are coming my way including being one of the notable vocalists who will be part of the AmaPiano movement,” said Tsepiso.

She said she was grateful for the collaboration as she learnt a lot during the production process, including being patient.
“It’s a dream come true to have worked with all these amazing souls on the song. I learnt a lot from MaWhoo — an amazing soul who is very humble and I feel blessed to have been in the studio with her. One of the best advice I got from her is to stay true to my sound and try to distinguish myself from other creatives.

“She has been in the game for like ten years but she blew up now and she has done great work and represented female artistes very well. Her story in the music industry has taught me to be patient and believe in myself for anything is possible,” said Tsepiso.
