Tshanda, show organisers in blame game

SOUTH African Splash music icon Dan Tshanda has blamed organisers for the cancellation of his planned show in Bulawayo.
Tshanda said he even received threats from the  show organisers, Lussade Promotion, who are also accusing Tshanda of ditching them at the last minute.
They have vowed that they will not work with him.
In an interview, Byron Lussade of Lussade Promotions said he was extremely disappointed by the way Tshanda was going about his business.

“We paid them a deposit of 40 000 rand and another 12 000 rand for transport. We agreed to pay the remaining sum when they come for the show. We are now shocked to hear him saying he wants the money in full before he and his crew leaves South Africa,” he said.
In an interview from his South Africa base, Dan Tshanda defended himself saying he told the promoters to pay the booking fee in full, two weeks before the show.

“Most of the musicians I was supposed to come with like Peacock, Matshikos and Dalom Kids are now freelance bands so I have to book but without cash it becomes a problem. They want the money in full before leaving for the show. I have the receipts with me showing that these guys still owe us 55 000 rand,” he said.

Tshanda said he has received all kinds of threats from the promoters but is not afraid because if anything happens to him, people will know who is responsible.

“I told them to postpone but they said they could not because they have used up to 300 000 rand to prepare for  the show. I told them I could help them with advertising, but they declined my offer. I love my Zimbabwean fans and this is why I am prepared to perform on another day. I am sorry to them all and I will repay this debt to them one day,” he said.

Tshanda was supposed to share the stage with Martin Sibanda and Ndolwane Super Sounds but the organisers said they could not go ahead with the show even with local artistes who were his supporting acts.

“He was our main attraction and as it stands we have incurred a loss because we cannot go ahead with the show. We had booked the venue and security but he is doing like he is not aware of this. It is better to cancel the whole programme,” said Lussade.
