While Tsholotsho is widely known as a hub for Rhumba music, gospel chorale group Vision of Glory is carving out its path in the gospel music scene. The group is set to launch its fifth album, Isabelo Soswazi, later this month in Bulawayo.

Formed in 2004 at the Tsholotsho Central Seventh-day Adventist Church, Vision of Glory comprises 40 male and female members. Despite spending years outside the limelight, the group has gained recognition in Bulawayo.

The group’s musical journey began in 2013 with the release of their debut album Nkosi Sicelumusa, followed by Waleng’ eCalvary in 2014. After a three-year break from the studio, they made a strong comeback with Siyagqugquzela ngeKhaya in 2017, followed by a DVD, Nxa Sesingena, in 2018.

In 2019, they released one of their most popular tracks, Fanele S’bonge, and later dropped the single Sekonakele in 2021.

Speaking about their latest project, the group’s director, Opheus Ndlovu, said the album launch will take place on March 29 at the Zimbabwe Academy of Music in Bulawayo.

He said that several chorale music groups will grace the launch, including Advent Chord (Tsholotsho), Awaiting Ministries Zim, Blessed Hope (Gwabalanda), New Echoes (Gweru), Praise Family, Sounds of Comfort, Sword (Solusi) and Venture for Victory (Cowdray Park).

The 10-track album features songs composed and arranged by Ndlovu, with two tracks contributed by O Mutangadura from the University of Zimbabwe and evangelist Dumisani Nkomo. The songs are Isabelo Soswazi, Sizothokoza, Only a Sinner, Yehla Nkosi, Fanele S’bonge, Help Meet for Adam, Silapha Sithume, Qubudani kuYehova, Makabongwe and Sekonakele.

The album was recorded at Tonal Vision Studios in Tsholotsho.

“The group is based in Tsholotsho, but we have 11 members stationed in Bulawayo. Those in Bulawayo practice separately, and we hold all-night rehearsals every three months to ensure they catch up,” said Ndlovu.

“Our vision is to be a source of inspiration and encouragement, using our music to remind people of God’s love and the hope of eternal life.”

Ndlovu encouraged chorale music lovers to attend the launch for a night of uplifting music and an opportunity to get their hands on the new album.—@themkhust
