TSHOVA Mubaiwa Transport Co-operative has been engaged in social responsibility programmes, which the company’s chief executive officer says is a way of giving back to the community.
Samson Mabunda said the co-operative has been involved in various activities, which seek to help develop and aide society.
“As an association we remembered those who continued to board our commuter omnibuses, during a time when many people had abandoned us, following the introduction of freedom trains and buses, which charged 2 rands. So, we are indebted to the society for their valued support and we are committed to helping our communities,” he said.
Tshova Mubaiwa Transport Co-operative has actively engaged schools in assisting them by donating stationery and providing trees for tree planting activities. The co-operative also had a stake in raising the perimeter wall at Mpilo Hospital.
“We also had a hand in the construction of a road in Mbundane suburb. Tshova Mubaiwa also offers free transport services to bereaved families, as a way of also giving back to the community.
“This has been a great initiative, which has been greatly appreciated by many people in Bulawayo. Those in need of transport are required to produce a letter stamped by the residents’ councillor for authenticity. If need be to have more vehicles at a funeral the bereaved can also come to the office and negotiate with us,” said Mabunda.
He said Tshova Mubaiwa’s mission was to dominate the transport industry.
“Our goal is to penetrate the tourism sector,” he said.
He applauded and encouraged commuters to give them feedback whenever they had grievances.
