Tshuma Breaks Femur In Disqualification Crash

YOUNG Methembe Tshuma broke his right femur as he crashed while reacting to a false start call in his 200m heat at the African Senior Championships at the University of Ghana.

Tshuma, a semi-finalist at the competition after running the third fastest time of the preliminary rounds was immediately whisked away to a nearby facility where x-rays revealed the sad news.

Tshuma was off the blocks before the gun and when the buzzer went for false start, he lost his footing while reacting, crashing to the track and in the process breaking his femur.

Coach Phakamile Lisimati confirmed the news during supper last night.

“The injury was serious. He has been taken to the hospital where x-rays have revealed that he broke his femur. He is being attended by medical experts at the hospital, the team is checking on him,” said Lisimati.

Zimbabwe sent a team of 12 athletes to the games and so far the team has bagged three medals.

Dennis Hove won a silver medal in the 400m with his compatriot Leeford Zuze winning bronze in the same event with Ashley Miller second in the 400m hurdles.
