MDC-T leader Mr Morgan Tsvangirai faces humiliation on 31 July when the country holds harmonised elections, the Zanu-PF National Assembly candidate for Mberengwa East, Cde Makhosini Hlongwane, has said. Addressing thousands of party supporters at Danga Business Centre on Saturday, Cde Hlongwane, who is the Zanu-PF secretary for security in the Midlands Province, said Mr Tsvangirai must stay away from Mberengwa.
Mr Tsvangirai last week held rallies at Mataga, Ngungumbane and Danga, among other areas in Mberengwa in bid to garner support for his party but the meetings were poorly attended.
His meeting at Danga was attended by less than 200 supporters.
“This area is a no go area for Morgan Tsvangirai and his western-funded party. I thank you people of Mberengwa for demonstrating to him that this is not a playground for puppet politics,” said Cde Hlongwane.
He said most people in Mberengwa benefited a lot from President Robert Mugabe’s land reform programme and could not be lured by a few dollars and cents.
“Those who benefited from land reform programme, most of whom were resettled in Neta, Rutenga, among other areas will never move out of those farms no matter what happens,” Cde Hlongwane said.
Mr Tsvangirai is on record saying if he gets into power he will reverse the land reform programme and bring back whites to occupy farms and mines.
Cde Hlongwane urged people to continue supporting President Mugabe whom he said had become an envy of many in Africa and beyond because of his visionary leadership.
“We are privileged as the people of Zimbabwe to have a leader like President Mugabe who suffered a lot at the hands of Britain, America and their allies but has never looked back in protecting the interests of the people of Zimbabwe,” said Cde Hlongwane.
He said President Mugabe had a number of projects for the people but could not implement them properly because of the inclusive Government which he said was a demon that should dead and buried after 31 July.
“This inclusive Government must end on 31 July. Surely we cannot go anywhere when we pull in different directions as is the case in the inclusive Government”, said Cde Hlongwane.
