MDC-T leader Mr Morgan Tsvangirai has continued with his vitriolic attack against the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission calling on staffers in the electoral body to resign en mass. He made the remarks at a rally in Harare saying ZEC had not given him the voters’ roll with only two days before the polls tomorrow.
Following the arrest of MDC-T deputy national chairman Morgan Komichi on Sunday on allegations of misrepresenting to ZEC that he had “picked up” from a dust bin a sealed tamper-proof envelope with a special vote ballot paper at a Harare hotel, Mr Tsvangirai was singing a different tune.
Komichi appeared in court yesterday and was remanded in custody to today for bail ruling. The prosecution strenuously opposed the bail.
“As we speak, our chief election agent Morgan Komichi is in police custody as a result of the incompetence of ZEC,” said Mr Tsvangirai.
“We are not aware as a party who is printing the ballots, where and how many are being printed. It is clear that ZEC is either in complicity or they have abdicated their responsibility to other forces.
“If they are not up to their constitutional mandate and responsibility, ZEC should say so or resign in the public interest.”
Mr Tsvangirai claimed electoral commissions have always stolen elections against his party since its formation.
