Tuku, Macheso clash at Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex

Complex on August 26.

Dubbed “The Titanic Clash”, the month-end gig will see two of Zimbabwe’s sought-after musicians sharing the stage in Macheso’s home turf.
The two music giants are not newcomers when it comes to putting up polished acts and the show has been a long time coming for many a music lover.
Mtukudzi or simply Tuku has been one of the most consistent musicians in Zimbabwe and has released 60 albums to date.

Tuku, who was appointed Goodwill Ambassador by the United Nations, proved that he has still got it when he put up a five-star performance during the Winter Jazz Festival.
The Kora Award winner has toured several countries, which include United Kingdom, Canada and the United States of America, and he has left the crowd crying for more. He is currently riding high with the release of his latest offering titled “Abia’ngu” (Duets), which is a collaboration with different artistes in Africa.

On the other hand, Macheso affectionately known as “Extrabasso” by his fans, is set to continue where he left off at the Heroesplush gala where he put a sterling performance. Macheso has shown that he is the king of sungura music in Zimbabwe by winning several awards as the best stage performer.
The artiste, who was groomed by Khiama Boys frontman Nicholas Zakaria, has proved himself the world over with performances that have the kept the crowd at their feet every time he takes to the stage.

An upcoming musician, Tryson Chimbetu, will support the two music giants at the show. The dendera musician will take revellers down memory lane belting out some of the tunes that were done by the late dendera king, Simon “Chopper” Chimbetu.
If anything, the power-packed act has got all the ingredients, as there is katekwe music on the other hand, sungura and dendera music on the other.
