The four-week tour will be made possible by the Zimbabwe German Society and Wildfire Events through their monthly Acoustic Night events, held at the now popular venue and cultural hub, The Zimbabwe German Society (ZGS).
The Acoustic Night All Stars consist of four artistes — Rutendo Machiridza, Tariro Ruzvidzo, Prayer Mtamangira and Kelvin Tapi who all have been part of the acoustic night developmental programme.
ZGS programme manager Mandla Ncube said Tuku had agreed to the ambassadorial role for the group’s tour, which shall see the young artistes exchanging skills and knowledge with their European counterparts
“Oliver Mtukudzi has agreed to be the tour ambassador and guardian for the Acoustic Night All Stars who embark on a European Tour in March 2013. The show will consist of over 20 shows which shall also include an intense rehearsal and skills exchange programme,” said Ncube
He said the four had gone through various training and exchange programmes that equipped them with the skills required for a successful German tour, a tour that will allow them to further their skills and expose them to the international market.
Ncube said the skills that the four will acquire from their German counterparts were invaluable and will stand them in good stead in the long run.
“The team will receive sustainability tools from their German counterparts through the imparting of knowledge and skills that will help them in sustaining their own projects beyond the acoustic nights,” the programmes manager said.
Tuku will exchange his own experiences of touring the world, thereby playing a key role in the four’s quest to break into the international arts arena.
The Acoustic Stars and Mtukudzi will hold a Press conference at The Zimbabwe German Society offices on Monday before a private luncheon meeting.
The luncheon will be part of discussions and sharing experiences as Mtukudzi gears and arms the Acoustic Stars to make it to the big stage.
The Zimbabwe German Society director Roberta Wagner was overjoyed at Mtukudzi’s acceptance of the role, saying it was an honour to have an artiste of Tuku’s pedigree as part of the programme. She said they were very grateful to Tuku for taking time off his busy schedule.
“The Zimbabwe German Society and the Acoustic Night Stars are honoured by Ambassador Oliver Mtukudzi’s drive and enthusiasm to help young artistes despite his busy schedule, This will go a long way in helping young musicians as they seek a breakthrough in their music careers,” said Wagner.
The Acoustic Night began in 2009 with a handful of musicians and has up to date grown to be a prestigious event that attracts a huge audience.
It has gained prominence by producing high-quality live music and grooming of up-and-coming talent with a burning desire to make it in the arts.
It also provides a professional base for them to make music a viable career option.
