Tuku out to fill Megga 1

one of the biggest outdoor venues in the capital where several groups have struggled to draw numbers.
But Mtukudzi, or simply Tuku to his fans, has performed at the joint before with sold-out gigs and this time he engages dendera youngster Tryson Chimbetu and the Marxist Brothers.

Of late, Tuku’s fans have been complaining because of his long playlist and it is always a problem to choose which song to play and when.

What is refreshing though is that the granddad of music always gives the youngsters an opportunity to shine while he takes a back seat. And also, since his exhaustion late last year which forced him to cancel shows, is taking things nice and easy.

Another plus for Tuku is that his latest album, “Sarawoga”, is fast gaining ground with the song “Watitsvata” becoming a favourite of many. The song is receiving massive airplay on radio as well as at weddings and parties.

It is against the popularity of the song that Tuku’s fans would want to see the legend in action again.
While Tuku will obviously be the star attraction, talented dendera musician Tryson will be the man to watch for as he is holding his own in the music circles.

Tryson is one of the young Chimbetus who are reviving the dendera genre that was founded and popularised by the then Marxist Brothers — the duo of Simon and Naison Chimbetu.

He has two albums to his name, with the latest one being “Bvamrod”, whose tracks have endeared him with music fans whenever he performs. He is currently in the studio recording his third album which is due for release anytime soon.
