ZIMBABWE’s most celebrated music icon Oliver ‘‘Tuku’’ Mtukudzi will be in Mutare at Motoring Club tonight (Friday). This will be his first show in the eastern border city this year.

Nox of the Maria and Ndinonyara fame and his entourage of the Ice and Roses family will be the curtain raisers for the show along with local dancehall wonder I-Finton.

I-Finton will also be launching his latest project during the momentous show.

The music icon, who has been making inroads beyond borders with his Tuku music, which beyond doubt is now a ‘‘brand’’, will be performing for the first time back home, following his sold-out Lilongwe show in Malawi last Saturday.

In an interview on Monday, Tuku’s manager Sam Mataure guaranteed Mutare revellers a grand show.

Mataure said like old wine which matures with age, Tuku’s show in Lilongwe was magical and the Mutare show would be no different.

“We are going to give a thrilling performance to our Mutare fans, no doubt. Tuku is still invigorated and fresh from the highly successful, sold-out Lilongwe show, so Mutare should be up for a treat,” said Mataure.

He said they have a hectic travelling schedule for Tuku as they continue to market the Tuku music brand regionally and internationally.

“On September 3, we will be in Namibia and on November 5 in South Africa, and then back in the United Kingdom again in December.

“We want to take Tuku music internationally,” he said.

Music promoter and consultant for the Mutare show Adrian Chizana said the show would pave way for many more high-profile live shows to come to Motoring Club.

“This show will put Motoring Club on the map as an elite venue for live shows. I want to bring several musicians and entertainers even from outside the country to Mutare at Motoring Club,” said Chizana.
