Oliver Mtukudzi will have a unique start to 2014. The musician will not perform in the country for the first quarter of next year as he concentrates on other commitments and an international tour. Mtukudzi will perform his last show on home soil at the Harare International Conference Centre on December 31 and his next show here will be on April 4.
At the December 31 show, Mtukudzi will perform with Jah Prayzah and Douglas Chimbetu.
Speaking about their New Year resolution, manager Sam Mataure said they would go for a tour of the United States early next year while the superstar will have a few personal commitments to take care of when he takes a breather.
“We will tour the US early next year and we are happy to have a chance to usher our local fans into 2014 in a New Year’s Eve show,” he said.
“We will say thank you to our fans for a successful year, but we will also plead with them to be patient as we take a long break from local shows in the first three months. We love our local fans so much but there are always calls from our fans from abroad for us to stage shows
in their countries. We will respond to those calls but we will never forget our local fans because home is best.”
Mtukudzi had numerous international tours this year, but made sure to keep his local fans served through an array of shows, most of which were outreach gigs.
