RISING singer Flata Maungwe has joined the growing list of musicians who are using song to appeal for divine intervention against Covid-19.
Over 200 000 people around the world have succumbed to the pandemic.
The number of people infected by the disease continues to swell with each passing day.
Maungwe has produced a single track titled “Rapai Matenda Anetsa”.
The song is timely as it seeks to soothe the angst of those who have been psychologically roiled by the virus.
The musician’s single, which is commonly referred to as “Prayer for the Nation” by her fans, is a passionate plea to God for protection against the coronavirus.
Maungwe also pleads with the Almighty for healing.
“I feel so much for people who have been affected by Covid-19, as well as other outbreaks that came before. It is my hope and prayer that this pandemic comes to an end, which is possible through prayer,” she said in an interview.
The founder of Glorious Family Choir — an interdenominational choral group — reckons it is only God that has answers to the ongoing global crisis.
Through song, she acknowledges the Creator is the most competent of all doctors or healers.
“This is a global prayer. We need a solution but that is yet to happen despite all the effort by medical practitioners worldwide. In the song, I remind people that we have one senior doctor who has never failed before and if we look up to him, we will get an answer,” she said.
The rising singer already has a single album under her belt.
However, the project did not receive rave reviews like the single.
She intends to record a follow-up eight-track album titled “The Greatness of God” after the lockdown.
Meanwhile, a Seventh Day Adventist Church acapella music ensemble has also released a single of hope titled “Musatisiye Tiri Toga”.
