DEFENDING champions Tuskers play against Southern Rocks when the 2022/23 Logan Cup resumes early this month.
Tuskers ended the year badly when they lost by an innings and 33 runs to rivals and log leaders Eagles and will be looking forward to winning with a wide margin when they play against Southern Rocks who are yet to win a match this season.
Tuskers stand in head coach, Thabo Mboyi who took charge of the match against Eagles due to Walter Chawaguta’s absence, said the defeat against their rivals is now history and they look forward to playing good cricket throughout the year.
“We are working on improving our game and the guys are commited to changing things for the better,” said Mboyi.
Tuskers are resuming training next Monday as their next match is expected to start on January 14.
The match is scheduled to be played at Queens Sports Club, which will be Tuskers’ first encounter at the venue this season. Mboyi believes playing at home will be a big boost and will have an impact on the team’s performance.Senior players, Sean Williams, Brian Chari and Ainsley Ndlovu who missed the last match are expected to be back.

“Playing at Queens will be a big boost for the team because of our home fans and conditions. The senior guys will be there and we will start with our strongest team,” said Mboyi.
Tuskers got off their title defence to a perfect start, convincingly winning their first two matches against Southern Rocks and Rhinos by 76 runs and eight wickets respectively.
