Tuskers pick up first season win

TUSKERS picked up their first win in this season’s Pro50 Championship when they defeated Eagles by four wickets in 50 over cricket match played at Mutare Sports Club yesterday.

It was sweet revenge for Tuskers who lost to the same opponents by eight wickets in Mutare last Thursday after the Bulawayo team had been blown away for 106 runs in 32.2 overs. Their opponents surpassed the target with a massive 193 balls remaining having lost just two wickets in their way to victory.

Yesterday, left-handed batsmen, Craig Ervine top scored for Tuskers with 118 off 100 deliveries and was complemented by opener Brian Chari who made 88 from 91 balls as Tuskers made 315/6 in 47.5 overs to win with 13 balls remaining.

Eagles had earlier posted 314 in 48.5 overs, their highest score coming off their skipper Regis Chakabva who made 122 opening the batting while Tinotenda Mutombodzi was second best with 93.
At Kwekwe Sports Club, Southern Rocks defeated Rhinos by 14 runs through the Duckworth and Lewis method.
Southern Rocks scored 248/8 in 50 overs and Rhinos were on 94/3 in 24 overs when rain disrupted play and Rocks won the match the D/L method.  —  @Mdawini_29
