HIGHLANDERS FC chairman Johnfat Sibanda says the club has managed to secure a partnership that will profile the club in a show to be aired on DStv’s Supersport.

Supersport is a South African-based group of television channels carried on the DStv & Canal+ satellite platforms alongside the GOtv terrestrial platform and Showmax Pro for live sports programming.

Sibanda told bona fide club members at the mid-year review meeting that Media Mora is the production company that will record and produce 12 episodes for the Highlanders TV show to be aired on Supersport.

“The show will be fully funded through a partnership with an international communications organisation which is looking to launch their company on the strength of their partnership with the club.

This partnership is a culmination of a series of engagements between the club and MediaMora. Taking advantage of his geographical location, Busani Mthombeni physically met Media Mora representatives in South Africa on a number of occasions and he has continued in that role to date.

“We have now been provided with the contract for our perusal and signing. Our rivals Dynamos are also now pursuing the same opportunity and we are privileged to have first preference of launch should we move with speed.

“The partnership also presents a sponsorship opportunity for the club. This has been discussed but no proposal or agreement has been finalised. The club will need to engage and pursue this low hanging fruit,” said Sibanda.

Sibanda also gave an update on the activity on the club’s mining project.

“After acquiring a mining licence, registering a mining company and carrying out surveys, we have gone to pay for services of a geologist for a bankable geological report. The geologist is done on the ground, and the Mining Committee will be furnished with the report,” said Sibanda.

President Mnangagwa awarded a mining claim to Highlanders in 2021 as part of empowering the club to enable Bosso to expand its revenue streams.

The major mine breakthrough came at a time when Highlanders were celebrating 95 years of existence and was a perfect present from the Head of State and Government.

The Government through the Ministry of Mines and Mining Development approved relevant paperwork for Bosso to start operations at their gold mining claim in December 2021.

With so much potential in the mining industry, Highlanders stand to benefit and expectations are that they will use the proceeds from the mine to set up a strong base for junior development, manage and upgrade their facilities, which include the clubhouse, office and camping house in Luveve. —@innocentskizoe
