Twin sister kills sibling’s daughter

In a fit of rage, a twin sister allegedly fatally kicked her sibling’s two-year-old daughter during a brawl. Vimbai Sandi (19) yesterday appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Adonia Masawi charged with culpable homicide.

However, the twin sister Vimbiso sought to withdraw charges against her sister.

The docket was later sent to the Prosecutor General’s Office for consideration.

Prosecutor Mr Liberty Gono alleged that on March 16 last year, Vimbai and her twin sister Vimbiso had a misunderstanding which ended up in a fistfight.

It is alleged that during the fight Vimbai kicked the toddler who was lying on the ground on the forehead.

After realising that the toddler was seriously injured, the sisters stopped fighting and attended to her.

The following day Vimbiso took her daughter to Hatfield Clinic for treatment but she was referred to Parirenyatwa Hospital.

The toddler died two days later.

A post-mortem conducted on her body indicated that she died of head trauma.
