Twins defraud brother-in-law of US$300 000

selling it for US$120 000.

Tafadzwa and Tawanda Mavhunga (25) hatched a plan to defraud their sister’s husband.
They stole the deed of transfer of the industrial stand in Prospect and fraudulently manufactured a power of attorney purporting that Tawanda had been appointed and authorised by Dairai Kanoyangwa to sell the stand on his behalf. Tafadzwa is now being charged with fraud while Tawanda is still at large.

Tafadzwa was not asked to plead to the charge when he appeared before Mr Donald Ndirowei who granted him US$200 bail.
He will be back in court for his routine remand on November 8.

Prosecutor Ms Molyn Mutamangira-Mavhondo said Tafadzwa and Tawanda hatched the plan sometime in January last year after stealing the deed of transfer. The court heard that the twins went to Heaven on Earth Real Estate and instructed an agent to sell the property on their behalf.

The property, which is valued at US$300 000, was eventually sold to Wang Chen for $120 000 and transferred into his name on September 22, 2010.
