TWO men were arrested in Lupane after police intercepted two rigid trucks allegedly carrying smuggled goods and prohibited medicines along the Bulawayo–Victoria Falls Road.
The suspects, Kudakwashe Abraham (33) and Tawanda Rwambiwa (38), were arrested on May 18 at the 168km peg during a police operation targeting smuggling and the illegal transportation of restricted products.

In a brief statement police said a search conducted on the two trucks led to the recovery of assorted smuggled goods that included bales of second-hand clothing, footwear, vehicle rims, skin-lightening creams, cosmetics, assorted tablets and other prohibited medicines.
The interception comes amid intensified nationwide operations by law enforcement agencies following increased concerns over the illegal importation and distribution of unregulated products, some of which pose serious health and economic risks.
Police warned members of the public against engaging in smuggling activities or dealing in unregistered medicines and prohibited substances, saying offenders risk arrest and prosecution.
