Two children die in scotch cart accidents

Two juveniles, one from Mutoko and another from Murehwa died in two separate scotch cart accidents that occurred this week.

The first accident occurred on August 21 along a dust road in Gumbanjera Village in Murehwa and claimed 12-year-old Tinotenda Joromani’s life.

It is said the now deceased was sent by his father to fetch water using a scotch cart.

Along the way, the scotch cart hit a tree stump, overturned once and threw Tinotenda outside.

Tinotenda sustained serious head injuries and was rushed to Nhowe Memorial Hospital where he died upon admission.

The second accident occurred on August 22 at around 7am along the Chindenga-Makokoro dust road in Mutoko and claimed 14-year-old Tafadzwa Dzotizeyi’s life.

Tafadzwa was in the company of one Ms Yeukai Gatakata  (41) when tragedy struck.

Reports are that the duo was on their way to Chindenga Business Centre using a scotch cart.

The scotch cart hit a stone and overturned once, before it hit Tafadzwa on the left side of his head, thereby killing him instantly.

Deputy police spokesperson for Mashonaland East province, Assistant Inspector Misheck Denhere said investigations are in progress.
